santiniketan
Shantiniketan emerges as a haven for art, culture, and tranquillity, inviting travellers to immerse in the unique blend of nature and creativity. Founded by Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore in the early 20th century, Shantiniketan, which translates to “Abode of Peace,” lives up to its name by offering a serene escape from the hustle and bustle of urban life.
The soul of Shantiniketan lies in its open-air classrooms, vibrant festivals, and the harmonious coexistence of art and nature. The Visva-Bharati University, Tagore’s brainchild, stands at the centre, a cultural hub that inspires artists, poets, and scholars.
Art galleries, including Kala Bhavana, showcase a rich collection of paintings, sculptures, and crafts. The serene waters of the Kopai River and the lush landscapes of the Ashram area provide the perfect backdrop for contemplation and creativity.
